AUGUSTA, Maine — A Republican lawmaker in Maine has introduced a joint resolution honoring Turning Point USA founder Charles “Charlie” Kirk, praising his faith and political activism while condemning what the measure describes as his assassination in Utah in 2025.

State Rep. Reagan Paul announced on social media that she sponsored and introduced the proposal, filed as House Paper 1485 during the Maine Legislature’s Second Regular Session and titled a joint resolution to honor Kirk’s “life, faith, leadership and legacy.”

The resolution’s opening clauses portray Kirk as a “courageous American patriot and faithful Christian,” citing his death on Sept. 10, 2025, and describing his public life as grounded in Christian devotion. It also references his family, identifying him as the husband of Erika Kirk and the father of two children.

It then shifts to Kirk’s national profile, noting he founded Turning Point USA in 2012 at age 18 and asserting the organization grew into a large campus network. The document also claims TPUSA helped register and mobilize more than 125,000 new voters during the 2024 election, crediting the group with narrowing the youth voter gap.

In its closing sections, the measure calls on lawmakers to formally condemn Kirk’s killing and political violence broadly, extend condolences to his family, and urge Americans “regardless of party or creed” to recommit to civic debate grounded in respect rather than division.
