While plenty of people are stuffing their faces with turkey and stuffing, along with a helping of NFL football on Thanksgiving Day, the Los Angeles Dodgers give thanks, too.

The Dodgers are firmly in place as MLB’s premier team by winning back-to-back World Series championships. They have put together a solid organization from top to bottom.

Shohei Ohtani, who will play for Japan in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, has proven to be a fine, fine player and well worth his $700 million contract. Freddie Freeman entrenched himself as a Dodger hero with his efforts in the 2024 World Series.

What about Clayton Kershaw? The lifetime Dodgers starting pitcher called it a career after the 2025 World Series. Sure, Kershaw had his moments in postseason play that didn’t look good. Yet Kershaw ended his Baseball Hall of Fame-caliber career with a World Series ring. One has to give thanks for Kershaw’s contributions to the franchise in his career.

As for newer Dodgers players, fans have to feel thankful that Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a part of their team. Especially after his postseason performance last season, too.

Los Angeles fans might be frustrated at times with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and some of his decisions. Yet even the most curmudgeon of Dodgers fans have to give thanks for Roberts’ right decisions at clutch moments.

Of course, the Dodgers franchise has a deep history dating back to its origins in Brooklyn, N.Y. Without Walter O’Malley, Peter O’Malley and their family, there would not be a Dodgers franchise as fans know it today.

But Los Angeles knows that there is no rest for the victors. The Dodgers will look to upgrade some of their positions at the upcoming Winter Meetings in December. Dodgers general manager Brandan Gomes will go to Orlando, Fla., with a list that he’ll check consistently.

There’s an old saying that an attitude of gratitude can go a long way.

Gratitude and thankfulness almost go hand-in-hand. Dodgers fans who make their way out to Dodger Stadium know that the team will put out their best players on the field.

Dodgers fans also can feel thankful that there’s plenty of highlights out on social media and online that shows a long list of successes.

Imagine living in a time where memories of Kirk Gibson’s walk-off homer and Ohtani’s incredible play are part of a Dodgers fan’s life.

While Dodgers fans and even players, too, will be digging into some turkey, they’ll also be able to count their blessings, too.

So, on this Thanksgiving Day, let’s give thanks for the Los Angeles Dodgers and what they’ve achieved not only in the past two seasons, but for many, many years in the world of the MLB.
