Breaking Done Deal: Formal Mariners Standout Remains Unsigned And Has Reunite With Club
Lawrence is the definition of a journeyman. He’s 38 years old.
The Seattle Mariners just signed one of MLB’s oldest free agents.
According to Just Baseball’s Aram Leighton, the Mariners have signed right-handed pitcher Casey Lawrence.
Overall, Lawrence has pitched in 65 MLB games and has a career 6.42 ERA.

He originally entered pro baseball as an undrafted player out of small Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Lawrence first made his MLB debut in 2017 with the Toronto Blue Jays. He threw four games with Toronto that season, then joined the Mariners for 23 more games.

Lawrence made it into 11 more MLB games with the Mariners in 2018.
He didn’t return to MLB until 2022, back with the Blue Jays, for six more games.
In 2023, Lawrence threw 15 games with the St. Louis Cardinals.

He didn’t get up in 2024, then returned in 2025 with the Mariners for five games (3.00 ERA) and one rough outing with the Blue Jays.
Lawrence certainly knows not to get too comfortable, but it’s also admirable for him to stick around and just keep doing his job, wherever he is sent and whichever team does or doesn’t want him at a given time. And he’s not done yet.
