Amazon Prime’s Champions League reporter Alex Aljoe produced a masterclass in post-match interviewing when she caught up with Estevao Willian following Chelsea’s impressive dismantling of Barcelona – a match which ended 3-0 to the hosts – on Tuesday night. Fans have been taken aback by her brilliant linguistic skills.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues, galvanised by Ronald Araujo’s first-half red card perhaps, were at the races from start to finish and their efforts resulted in adding another three points to the league phase table. As things stand, they sit fifth on ten points.

As impressive as the Premier League outfit’s performance was the linguistic skills of Aljoe, who was involved in Prime Video’s coverage of the blockbuster European clash. She spoke to Estevao, who dazzled against Hansi Flick’s men, all while flicking between Portuguese and English.

Signed from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025, the 18-year-old – affectionately nicknamed ‘Steve’ – spoke to Aljoe after yet another brilliant goal at Europe’s top table. The teenager’s goal – his side’s second of the affair – was sandwiched by Jules Kounde’s own goal and Liam Delap’s finish in the 73rd minute, which put the icing on the cake.

In the danger man’s native language, Portuguese, Aljoe started: “Congratulations! A perfect night for Chelsea and for you personally,” and Estevao, widely regarded as one of the best teenagers in world football, replied with joy:

“I don’t really have any words to sum up how I’m feeling right now. As you said, it really was the perfect night and I’m just grateful to God for making everything happen for me – and it’s just onwards and upwards from here.”

Aljoe also touched upon the young and exciting winger’s goal in the 55th minute. “What a goal! Talk us through that goal from how you saw it,” she asked. In response, he said: “It was all very quick for me, it sort of just happened before I even knew it.
