Los Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw retired at the end of the 2025 season.

After 18 illustrious seasons in Dodger Blue, Kershaw’s curtain call culminated in perhaps the best way possible. The legendary southpaw went out on top, winning the third World Series of his career.

Less than two months after hoisting the Commissioner’s Trophy, Kershaw achieved another milestone at the age of 37: he became a father of five.

Kershaw took to social media to announce that he and his wife Ellen welcomed their baby girl just before Christmas.

“Meet Chloe Peach Kershaw, who joined our crew and arrived on December 19th! She’s perfect and her brothers and sister are obsessed with her. We are grateful for the gift of her life!” Kershaw’s Instagram caption read.

Beyond announcing his retirement in September, the future Hall of Famer had teed up the news when he made a special announcement during the Dodgers’ Father’s Day game against the San Francisco Giants.

Kershaw announced that he and his wife Ellen were expecting their fifth child, and that it was a girl.

“We had a gender reveal today,” Kershaw said on the ESPN broadcast. “We’ve got No. 5 coming, we got another girl coming. We got bookend girls to go with our three boys. Today was a very special Father’s Day for us.”

Kershaw is just a few weeks into retirement, but Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman had already offered the 11-time All-Star a role with the organization.

“He mentioned something where I could hang out,” Kershaw said of the job offer. “That’s good, man. I don’t know what that looks like. But this is a special organization. They don’t need me to win World Series. That’s obvious. But if there’s anything I can do in the future to be part of it, be around it, I hope that’s the case.

“I think first and foremost is for me to have this fifth kid and be a dad for a while. I don’t think there’s any full-time jobs in my immediate future.”
