Jennifer Lopez and Ben later reunited in 2021, almost two decades later, and rekindled their relationship. They tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2022, followed by a second ceremony in Georgia.

It didn’t last long as Jen officially filed for divorce on their second wedding anniversary, with court papers revealing they had already split in April 2023.

A few months ago, the singer spoke about her divorce when reflecting on a ‘tough’ period in her life, while Affleck also said how ’embarrassed’ he felt by the whole ordeal.

We weren’t ready to deal with and look at each other and go ‘what we have is real, we need to buckle down, do some work’ we just weren’t there yet.”

That is until now, as the 52-year-old has officially broken his silence on what he has described as an ’embarrassing’ split with his former lover – having only been married for two years.

Lopez filed for divorce with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’, back in August – soon after it was heard that Affleck didn’t attend the 55-year-old’s birthday party – which featured a host of celebrities.

After he was asked about their last conversation he had with her, he replied: “Well, on the one hand there’s the first feeling, which is like, well,

I hope I was clear about, when you asked me about Jen and the documentary and I talked about that and my sort of personal life a little bit,

which I don’t mind doing as long as my actual feelings and intentions and beliefs are communicated, which I hope I was clear that really this is somebody I have a lot of respect for

And I get wanting to divine or explore the kind of differences in perspective that we have in terms of how a person feels comfortable approaching the line between public and private life.

But I really hope that whatever you use doesn’t suggest that I have any negativity or judgment or anything regarding that. I have nothing but respect.”

He added: “I guess there’s a tendency to look at break-ups and want to identify root causes or something. But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.”
