Jennifer Lopez is enjoying some bonding time with her child, Emme this holiday season.

On Friday, Nov. 28, the multi-hyphenate, 56, posted photos of herself cooking in the kitchen on Thanksgiving with Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Emme’s twin is Maximilian “Max”.

The first snap showed Lopez wearing a lace-trimmed apron while proudly holding her golden turkey, while the next two photos showed her and a casually dressed Emme checking on the cake they’d slipped into the oven. Subsequent images showed all of the food on offer in the Lopez household, including multiple sweet pies, potato salad, rice dishes and more.

In the final snaps from the post, Lopez had taken off her apron, revealing an off-white silk shift dress she wore for the festivities, teamed with some towering, strappy pumps.

It’s been a busy few months for the family. In August, Lopez shared Instagram Stories of herself dropping Emme off on their first day of senior year.

“I just dropped off this little coconut to their first day of senior year. Looking back at this photo from a few years ago, it just reminds me that they’ll always be my beautiful baby!” wrote Lopez over one of the photos.

In a February 2022 PEOPLE cover story, Lopez said one of her main priorities as a parent is letting her children know how much they are loved.

“Everybody is growing up, they’re not babies anymore, so you can’t just take them on your lap and tell them it’s going to be okay,” said the Kiss of the Spider Woman star. “They’re venturing out, they’re being their own people and it’s us just trying to keep up.”

That’s the journey of it [and] another path you have to go own,” she continued. “It’s a joy for me.”

Lopez explained during an appearance on the Wednesday, Oct. 15, episode of SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show that she changed her parenting approach after a candid conversation with her kids during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“They spoke to me, [and] they’re like, ‘You’re not a regular mom. You’re not here every day. You don’t drop us off and pick us up [like the other parents],’ ” said Lopez. “And I realized how much they needed me there.”

Lopez said that at the time, she was driven to work harder to provide for her kids, until she realized that “it wasn’t just about me giving them a great life.”

“It was about me being there for them all the time,” she said. “[So] I started trying to balance that a little bit more.”
