Jennifer Lopez’s promotional tour for her new musical drama “Kiss of the Spider Woman” is reportedly causing tension behind the scenes — and not because of the film.
A source claims Lopez’s overly familiar behavior with co-producer Matt Damon has left his wife, Luciana Barroso, feeling increasingly uncomfortable.
Lopez, 56, has been working closely with Damon and his longtime friend and business partner Ben Affleck, who financed the project through their company Artists Equity. But a source claims Lopez’s interactions have crossed personal boundaries that Barroso finds hard to overlook.
“Lucy trusts Matt — this isn’t a case of her worrying what he might do,” the insider says. “It’s J. Lo’s behavior that bothers her. J.Lo doesn’t respect boundaries, and she’s way too familiar with Matt.”
Tension between Lopez and Barroso isn’t new. The insider says friction began last year when Lopez was photographed clutching Damon’s hand at a Toronto International Film Festival party that allegedly upset Barroso. “Those pictures did not go over well with Lucy,” the source explains. “It would be different if Lucy and J.Lo were friends, but they’re not.”
The insider adds that Barroso tried to reach out to Lopez years ago when Lopez and Affleck were still a couple. “Lucy tried to give her a chance as far as building a friendship, but it never went anywhere. That’s because all J.Lo cared about was impressing the guys – or at least that’s the way Lucy felt.”
Now that Lopez and Affleck are divorced, Barroso reportedly feels frustrated that Damon must remain closely tied to Lopez because of the film. “It drives her nuts,” says the source.
The concerns allegedly extend to Affleck himself. “Ben thinks Matt is giving J.Lo way too much of his time,” the insider claims. “Yes, they financed the movie, but as far as Ben’s concerned, that doesn’t mean they have to hold her hand every step of the way.”
