Vin Diesel has sparked excitement among Fast & Furious fans with his comments about the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo appearing in the franchise.

Will Ronaldo star in Fast & Furious?

Yesterday, December 12, Hollywood actor Vin Diesel caused a stir after sharing a photo of himself with Cristiano Ronaldo. What drew even more attention than the photo itself were Diesel’s remarks about the possibility of Ronaldo taking part in a Hollywood blockbuster like Fast & Furious.

Vin Diesel, best known for his action roles—most notably Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious series—has appeared in every film of the franchise, a role that has turned him into a true cinematic icon. In recent installments, Diesel has also taken on the role of producer, and he is currently preparing a new chapter of the series that is scheduled for release in 2027.

Diesel then teased fans with a deliberately vague post on Instagram:
“People keep asking me whether Ronaldo is going to be in this franchise. I have to tell you the truth—he’s a natural talent. We’ve written a role for him…”

Keeping the excitement in check

If Cristiano Ronaldo were to appear in Fast & Furious, it would undoubtedly attract massive attention. However, he would not be the first footballer to feature in a film starring Vin Diesel. Neymar made a brief cameo in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage (2017), in which the Brazilian superstar kicks a jar of seasoning into the face of a restaurant robber.

However, the prospect of Ronaldo appearing in a film alongside Vin Diesel still seems a long way off. Back in June this year, Diesel announced that a new installment of the franchise was scheduled for release in 2027, but just four months later, a spokesperson for distributor Universal revealed that the project could be canceled if its budget exceeded USD 200 million. As a result, several roles in the film could see their screen time reduced or even be cut entirely.

For that reason, some fans of the franchise remain skeptical, suggesting that Vin Diesel’s recent photo and comments about Ronaldo may simply be a way for him to try to keep the project alive.
