Humanoid Robot T800 With a Bruce Lee–Like Kick Signals China’s Readiness to Take on Tesla

A small Chinese startup called EngineAI Robotics, founded in 2023 with initial capital of just around 1 million yuan (about $142,000), is making waves in the humanoid robotics industry. In less than two years, EngineAI has developed the T800 robot, which is being rated as superior to Elon Musk’s Optimus.

The standout feature of T800 is its ability to deliver a powerful spinning kick reminiscent of Bruce Lee, with impact force comparable to that of a small car. Beyond sheer strength, T800 is equipped with a solid-state battery—an advanced technology that allows the robot to operate continuously for 4–5 hours while maintaining near-human flexibility.

EngineAI Robotics’ humanoid robot T800 is capable of delivering powerful spinning                                                                   kicks in the style of Bruce Lee.

In addition, the T800 features a highly flexible joint system with multiple degrees of freedom, enabling it to perform complex movements that many current robots have yet to achieve. This represents a major step forward in replicating natural human motion.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s Optimus robot has so far only managed to take a few steps and has even fallen over during tests involving picking up a water bottle. This has led Chinese netizens to express skepticism—and even mockery—toward Elon Musk’s ambitions in the humanoid robotics field.

Before unveiling the T800, EngineAI introduced the SA01 robot as an important experimental prototype. The company now aims to begin mass production of the T800 in 2026, targeting the service and industrial robotics markets. This success is supported by China’s abundant technical talent and the flexible supply chain in the Pearl River Delta, where ideas can be rapidly turned into real-world products.

The emergence of EngineAI and the T800 highlights China’s rise as a formidable competitor in the humanoid robotics race. With low startup costs but rapid innovation, EngineAI is challenging Elon Musk’s ambitions and ushering in a new era of competition in the robotics industry.
