Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star catcher Will Smith announced the third Dodgers Comedy Night in partnership with Netflix is a Joke on Tuesday.

Smith’s charity Catching Hope — which works to help underprivileged children develop critical skills for leadership, self-advocacy and self-sufficiency — has partnered with Netflix is a Joke since 2024 to hold the annual Dodgers Comedy Night, with this year’s installment coming May 7 at 7:00 p.m. PT.

Actor and comedian Ken Jeong will host the event, which takes place at The Saban Theater in Beverly Hills. Michelle Buteau, Ryan Hamilton, Sam Jay, Tom Papa, Frankie Quiñones and Derrick Stroup will also feature in the event. Tickets for the event go on sale Jan. 23 at 10:00 a.m. PT.

Will Dodgers Comedy Night Interfere With the Regular Season?

In each of the previous two installments of Dodgers Comedy Night, the event has taken place following a day game. This year, the Dodgers will not play a game on the day of the event and will be well rested for their seven-game home stand against the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants afterwards.

Is Will Smith Still the Dodgers’ Starting Catcher?

Smith will play in his eighth MLB season in 2026, and has become one of the most successful catchers in the game over the past few seasons.

He had made three consecutive All-Star Games, earning a starting spot in 2025, and received MVP votes for the first time in his career last season. His .901 OPS from last year marked the best he’s ever had during a season where he’s played more than 100 games, and his .296 batting average shattered his previous record.

The catcher is a shoe-in for the starting spot for the Dodgers, and has cemented his status among the best catchers in baseball.

The Dodgers will hope he can keep his production up in 2026, as they’re chasing the franchise’s first three-peat. Smith will play a huge role in their campaign, and will look to have another season similar to his stellar year in 2025.
